In an envelope magic card trick you can predict which card an audience member will choose and reveal the card before his eyes. The following steps will show you how to do this feat of magic.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Deck of cards
  1. Step 1

Choose a card ahead of time for this trick. This will be the card that you will predict. For this example we will use the King of Hearts.

  2. Step 2

Place the chosen card into an envelope and place the envelope on the table to the side. Place an identical card, the King of Hearts, on top of the deck of cards face down.

  3. Step 3

Do a regular shuffle with the cards, while making sure that the King of Hearts, which is on top of the deck, stays on top of the deck. Shuffle the deck several times always keeping the King of Hearts on top.

  4. Step 4

Lay the shuffled deck of cards on the table and have an audience member cut the cards.

  5. Step 5

Mark the cut by laying the envelope on top of the cut section of the cards that was on the top of the deck. Place the bottom of the deck on top of the envelope.

  6. Step 6

Recap what has happened: you have a card in the envelope, you shuffled the deck, had an audience member cut the cards and then marked the cut section with the envelope.

  7. Step 7

Have the audience member lift up the envelope and see what card he cut to. This card will be the King of Hearts.

  8. Step 8

Open up the envelope to reveal that you predicted the exact card that they would cut to, the King of Hearts.
