Your bridal bouquet is a special accessory that everyone will notice as you’re walking down the aisle. Choose an arrangement created in an eye-catching style and filled with beautiful blooms to coordinate with the time and tone of your wedding.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Discover the bouquet style that will complement your dress and your figure. For example, a long, cascade arrangement can be slimming and work well with sheath dresses. A group of hand-tied flowers looks great when carried by taller brides, while a compact, round bouquet flatters petite brides and empire-waist or curvy mermaid-style gowns.

  2. Step 2

Take a departure from the typical bouquet styles if you’re on a tight budget or simply want a different look. Choose a bridal basket full of silk flowers, a perfect single bloom or some beautiful buds attached to a decorative fan, for instance

  3. Step 3

Choose the type and arrangement of flowers to suit the location and formality of your wedding. For example, a bouquet of long-stemmed wild flowers tied with a simple bow is nice for a casual, garden wedding, while roses arranged into a cascade style are more traditional and formal.

  4. Step 4

Pick flower colors that coordinate with your reception décor or bridesmaids’ dresses. You can also simplify the process by allowing the bridesmaid’s to carry colorful blooms while your bouquet is comprised of formal and beautiful all-white flowers.

  5. Step 5

Cut costs if you’re on a strict budget by using flowers that are in season. Although you can obtain most any flower at any time of the year, locally grown blooms may be less expensive and last longer. Also consider adding greenery (some florists even use fragrant herbs) to reduce the cost.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you’re working with a wedding florist, show him photos and color swatches to get the exact bouquet style, flowers and shades you’re envisioning. Even asking for “pink daisies,” for example, can give him too much leeway.
