Understanding the proper functions of the motocross bike allows you to expand on your skills. If you plan to ride on tracks with jumps, hills or do any stunt riding, you will need to master using the clutch. Mastering the clutch can allow you to race more smoothly and with more flare.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Understand the benefits of learning how to properly work the clutch to command better control over your bike. Stunt riders have to maintain an incredible level of control over the entire bike, themselves and the trick they are trying to do if they hope to be successful.

  2. Step 2

Find an open place with no obstacles and flat ground. You will want to master a wheelie before you use the application on the track or in stunts. Lean back slightly and let the clutch out. You should feel your front wheel come off the ground just a little.

  3. Step 3

Practice this small move a number of times while you get the balance and positioning down. Then increase the power you let out of the clutch to increase the distance the front wheel goes up. This will allow you to learn how to gauge the power it takes to achieve certain heights.

  4. Step 4

Take this move to an empty track to master. Let a little of the clutch out as you come to a hill or jump. The small amount of lift under the front tire should allow you to hop over the hill with ease. This will increase your race times and skill on the track overall.
