How to Redo an "Undo" in Windows

Windows has given us a wide selection of choices to make editing our documents easier than ever. Not the least of these is the ability to "undo" and "redo" varied commands. Follow these steps if you need help in figuring out how to "redo" an "undo."

Instructions

    • 1

Find the "Undo" and "Redo" icons on your toolbar. The "Undo" icon looks like a bent arrow going up and over to the left with the head of the arrow pointing downwards. The "Redo" icon looks like another bent arrow, however the arrow is curved under and the head of the arrow is pointed upwards.

    • 2

Press the "Undo" icon to reverse the last action made in your document. You can also choose to press and hold the "Ctrl" key, then press "Y."

    • 3

Change your document as necessary. If you decide that the change made by using the "Undo" function should actually be placed back into your document, then you must "redo" your "undo."

    • 4

Choose the "Redo" icon on the toolbar, which is usually located next to the "Undo" icon. You can also choose to press and hold the "Ctrl" key, then press "Z."

    • 5

Practice by right clicking the "Redo" icon to see the available options. You must have used the "undo" function for the "redo" function to become active. Click the drop-down box to see what default action will take place when you select "Redo."
