How to Find a Seller's Negative Feedback on eBay

When you are considering buying from a seller on eBay, it is important to review their feedback first. Most sellers, even the most reputable, have some negative feedback, especially if they have been selling for many years. It is impossible to please everyone all the time. More important to you, as a customer, is what the negative feedback says and why the buyer had a problem with the transaction.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Step1
Click on the seller's feedback number next to their user id to see their feedback history. When the feedback page loads, you can see how many positive feedback the seller has received in relation to how many negative feedback.
Step2
Scroll through the pages of feedback to locate the negatives and read what the customers had to say. If the negative feedback is something like "slow shipping" or "poor communication" you probably do not need to be as concerned as if the negative feedback says something like "took my money and never delivered product" or "item grossly not as advertised."
Step3
Write down the seller's eBay user id, or copy it onto your clipboard.
Step4
Speed up the process of locating the negatives, and avoid scrolling through all the feedback pages, by leaving the eBay site and going to Toolhaus.org. This website is not run by eBay, but it does provide quick access to eBay sellers negative feedback comments.
Step5
Paste or type the eBay sellers user id into the "Negative/Neutral Feedback" section of the Toolhaus web page, and then click the button marked "Received By."
Step6
Read the results of your search. This website provides only the negative feedback left and not the positive, making it much quicker to evaluate the negatives.

Tips & Warnings

  • It is always a good idea to review both the positive and negative feedback that a seller has received. If you go to Toolhaus to view the negative feedback, you might still want to view all feedback at the eBay website before deciding you do not want to do business with a particular eBay seller. Many sellers have hundreds of positives for each negative received.
