How to Prepare to be Grounded

Parents often ground children as a punishment for negative behavior. Preparing to be grounded means that you have to think of ways to combat boredom. How much you have to prepare for your grounding depends on the type of grounding your parents give you.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Tell your friends of your impending grounding. If it is summer vacation, you will have to call, text, instant message or email them to let them know of your punishment. It is best to do this before your grounding begins, just in case your parents ground you from every communication device in the house.
Step2
Think of things to occupy your time. Being prepared with activities will help you to fight boredom and stop you from getting in even more trouble.
Step3
Accept responsibility for your actions. Show your parents that you were wrong and that you understand that your actions have consequences. Your parents may take this into account when deciding your punishment.
Step4
Ask your parents if you have an alternate punishment. You can ask your parents if you can do things for your neighbors or figure out some other punishment that may be agreeable.
Step5
Watch your attitude when your parents ground you. A negative attitude will often get you more time grounded.
Step6
Remember that grounding is only temporary. If you keep a positive outlook and use your time wisely, you will be off of your punishment before you know it.

Tips & Warnings

  • Never try to do things that go against your grounding. Sneaking around will get you a longer punishment if your parents find out about it.
