Ping pong races are great for children on a rainy day, just for fun or as a party game. Have plenty of ping pong balls on hand when you have races; it is inevitable that at least one ball will get stepped on and cracked. Make your own variations to this game to increase the challenge for more experienced players.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Ping pong table
  • Ping pong balls
  • Tape
  • Straws
Step1
Set up the ping pong table, leaving the net off. Mark off the start and finish lines on the table with masking or painter's tape.
Step2
Clear everything away from the sides of the ping pong table so that there is plenty of space for the players to walk along the side of the table.
Step3
Put the balls at the starting line. Give each player a straw, or they can use their mouth. Tell the players to start blowing their ball towards the finish line when you say "Go."
Step4
Have the players walk, or run, along the side of the table while blowing their ball towards the finish line. Instruct the players to keep their balls on the table. If they blow off, they are disqualified.
Step5
Award the first player who blows his ball all the way to the line with a prize for being the winner.
Step6
Add a twist to the game by playing as a relay race. Have the first child in line blow her ball and then go to the end when her ball has reached the finish line or fallen off the table. The first team to complete the relay wins.
