Get to class on time and locate the books and folders you need instantly by keeping your school locker in perfect order. Consider these ways to keep the space so organized and clean that you'll also have room for a few decorative touches.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Keep items from accumulating. At the end of each school day, remove any loose papers. File them in folders to go home or throw the unnecessary ones away. Return jackets, makeup or compact discs you've borrowed from friends. Toss any half-eaten food items.

  2. Step 2

Arrange books and folders in class order. Store them right side up with the spines facing out so you'll be able to grab what you need quickly on the way to class or when you're deciding what to bring home.

  3. Step 3

Use organizational items to help you stash and retrieve objects quickly. Use a pencil cup to hold extra writing tools and scissors. Attach magnetic hooks inside the door to hang a mirror, your keys or a hairbrush. Install temporary shelves to create spaces for shorter books and small things like makeup, snacks and trinkets. (See Resources)

  4. Step 4

Leave extra items at home. Although you want to show your new DVD, video game or photo album to your friends, it'll only clutter your locker for the rest of the day. There's also a chance the objects could be lost, damaged or stolen.

  5. Step 5

Design a collage to hang inside the door as a cool conversation piece. Layer photos of friends, images of favorite celebrities and bands, stickers, school spirit ribbons, clothing tags and memorabilia onto a piece of cardstock that you can remove and change periodically.

  6. Step 6

Empty your locker and wipe it down with disinfectant every few weeks so it will be as sanitary as it is clean.

Tips & Warnings
  • Never glue anything to your locker or install permanent shelving since you may face a fine at the end of the year for damaging school property.
