There is nothing quite like the taste of fresh baked brownies. Making them from scratch is not difficult, but it does require buying an assortment of ingredients. If you want to keep the job simple, go ahead and use a brownie packet mix. Baking mixes have made great progress over the years and many taste just like home made.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Brownie mix
  • Mixing bowl
  • Oil
  • Water
  • Eggs
  • Spoon
  • Baking pan
  • Oven
  • Knife
  1. Step 1

Open the package of brownie mix and pour the powdered ingredients into a large mixing bowl. Follow the package directions carefully, most brownie mixes require you add a specific quantity of water, oil and eggs.

  2. Step 2

Use a large spoon to stir the ingredients for mixing. Brownie batter is typically lumpy. It is not necessary to remove the lumps or to use an electric mixer on brownies.

  3. Step 3

Preheat the oven to the temperature specified on the package.

  4. Step 4

Grease your baking pan with oil, Crisco or a baking spray and then pour the brownie batter into the pan.

  5. Step 5

Bake the brownies in the oven according to the package specifications. You can not test for doneness on brownies by testing with a cake tester or touching the top like you can with cakes.

  6. Step 6

Remove the pan of brownies from the oven when the suggested baking time has passed. Set them aside to cool for around 20 minutes.

  7. Step 7

Cut the brownies into squares after they are fully cooled. A serrated knife, or a bread knife usually works best on brownies.

Tips & Warnings
  • For a variation on your brownies you can try stirring different things into the mix. Chocolate, peanut butter, white chocolate or butterscotch baking chips are delicious baked inside of brownies.
  • Frosting brownies is optional and not usually necessary because they are moister than cakes.
