Instructions

    • 1

Select ripe Hass avocadoes. These avocadoes are small and black in color. When ripe they are soft and give when pressed slightly.

    • 2

Cut the avocadoes open and take out the seed. Scoop the avocado meat with a spoon into a bowl and mash against the sides of the bowl with a fork. Leave the avocado pieces a little chunky for authentic Mexican style.

    • 3

Sprinkle on fresh lime juice. This will prevent the avocadoes from browning before serving. Mix these together well.

    • 4

Finely chop up some cilantro, tomatoes and onions. Stir these ingredients into the mashed avocadoes.

    • 5

Add in more lime juice to taste and then sprinkle in a little salt. Stir this lightly.

    • 6

If desired, seed one jalapeno pepper or a Serrano chile and chop finely. Stir into the guacamole.

    • 7

Dish up the authentic Mexican guacamole with homemade tortilla chips or top off any Mexican meal favorite.

    • 8

Serve immediately. Even though lime juice is used to prevent browning, guacamole eventually will change color anyway and although it still tastes good, it just doesn't look tasty.

Tips & Warnings

  • Use caution when seeding peppers. Wear gloves and be sure not to touch the eyes after handling peppers.
