How to Hook up a DVD Player Through a VHS Recorder and TV

Connect your DVD player to the VHS recorder that is connected to your TV for easy operation and to allow you to record movies playing on your DVD player to a VHS tape. As long as you are not color blind, and you have all of the necessary cables, it is easy to connect your electronics.

Instructions

      Locate the input and output jacks on the back of the VCR and the output jacks on the back of the DVD player. Find the input jack on the back the TV. Take notice of the red, yellow and white color coding on both machines.

      Take the cable and connect it to the back of the DVD player in the output jack. Put the red plug into the red jack. Plug the white and yellow plugs into the corresponding jacks.

      Plug the cable into the input jack on the back of the VHS recorder. Coordinate the colors into the coordinating color jack.

      Insert the second cables into the back of the VCR in the output jack. Plug each plug into the color coordinating jack.

      Grab the second end of the second cable, and plug it into the input jack on the back of the TV. Again, coordinate the color plug with each color jack.

      Select the input channel, Line 1 or Line 2 on the VCR, that shows the output from the DVD player. Set the VCR to the correct line input whenever you watch a DVD.
