Step 1
Drape the bedspread over 4 high-backed chairs and turn it into a soft indoor tent for the kids. Prop a broom or long stick in the center for extra height and cut a slit up one side to create a quick "door."
-
Step 2
Tuck it neatly around a couch or chair as a simple slipcover. Cut larger bedspreads into several pieces to reupholster an entire set of dining room chairs. (Just remove the cushion, stretch the bedspread swatch over the top, staple it in back and reattach the cushion to the chair.)
-
Step 3
Use old bedspreads as blankets for picnics in the park or lazy days at the beach. Queen- and king-sized spreads will be large enough for the entire family to have a seat. They'll also make cozy blankets for the kids to snuggle under while watching movies on the couch.
-
Step 4
Cut it into smaller pieces to turn into quilt blocks, a Christmas tree skirt or "messy mats" that will absorb spills when you're crafting with the kids. If your dog or cat loves sleeping at the foot of your bed, tuck a portion of the old bedspread around a small pillow to become a pet bed.

Step 5
Download patterns from the Internet and use them to turn old bedspreads into appliqués for use on quilts, handmade bags, pillows and wall hangings. You can also used scraps to design adorable patchwork stuffed animals. (See Resources)
