1
Be aware that anti-cellulite massage can activate the lymphatic system and increase circulation, therefore it is extremely important that you always work towards the heart. Begin your massage on the arms and legs, moving up towards the torso and back.
-
2
Use a quality massage lotion or oil, as anti-cellulite massage requires friction and twisting which can cause pain when performed "dry." There are a number of anti-cellulite creams and lotions available on the market which you may use for the massage if desired; however, be aware of the ingredients and possible skin allergies.
-
3
Warm up the tissues by kneading the tissue. Pick up as much of the skin as possible, pinching and rubbing as you would knead bread dough. If working on a client, keep the lines of communication open at all times, making sure that the pressure is okay and that they are relaxed and comfortable.
-
4
Pinch the skin between your thumbs and forefinger and slowly pull your hands away, rubbing deep into the tissue to help break-up and smooth cellulite. Remember that your motions, however small, should always move towards the heart.
-
5
Place one hand on the skin to hold the area taught and then use the palm, heel of your hand or thumb to rub the cellulite in circular motions. Begin at the bottom of the affected area and slowly work up towards the heart.
-
6
Complete the anti-celluite massage by applying long, smooth and light strokes moving towards the heart. It is extremely important to drink lots of clean, fresh water after an anti-cellulite or any kind of massage, as it releases various toxins trapped in the tissue into the bloodstream. In order to feel your best and detox after the massage, drink at least 32 ounces of water.
