Things You'll Need:
- Old envelope
- Decorative paper
- Scissors
- Glue
- Ruler
-
Step 1
Find an old envelope that's the size you want to use. This can be a regular paper envelope, card envelope or even a small gift tag envelope. The envelopes can be used because they're going to be your template for your new one.
-
Step 2
Unfold the envelope carefully. You will need to tear a couple of the seams open where the envelope's glued down. Be sure to do this slowly so you don't rip your template.
-
Step 3
Lay your new paper on a flat surface so the decorated side is face down. Place your unfolded old envelope on top of the paper and trace an outline for the template. Cut the new paper along the traced edges to have the outline for your envelope.
-
Step 4
Use a ruler or straight edge from a piece of a paper and draw where the fold lines of the envelope will be. You will have a fold line on the top, bottom and both sides.
-
Step 5
Fold the edges inward from the outside until you reach the fold line. Then take some glue and put a small line of glue along the bottom edge of the envelope edges.
-
Step 6
Take the bottom edge and carefully fold it upwards to glue it down. Crease the bottom and side edges alone the fold lines making sure the line is straight.
-
Step 7
Leave the top open and unfolded until you've filled it with the card or letter you're sending. Once you've done that, fold the top of the card over. You can either seal the card with a small amount of glue along the side edges or use a decorative sticker.
