A little curl in eyelashes goes a long way to enhance and brighten eyes. Not all eyelashes are created equal, however. Some people are born with curly eyelashes while other people's eyelashes grow stubbornly straight. Even if your eyelashes belong to the latter category, you can make your lashes naturally curly. Eyelashes may not come in the same shape, size or temperament, but all lashes can learn to bend under the proper guidance.

Wipe your eyelashes clean. A clean, unadulterated slate makes eyelashes more susceptible to curling. Avoid putting creams on your eyelashes because they make curling more difficult.

Lay a mirror flat, or horizontally, below your chin.

Curl your eyelashes with an eyelash curler in three segments while looking down at the mirror. The angle created while you look down helps to produce an optimum curl. Clamp down at the base of the lashes while looking down and count to three. Release your hold on the lashes, and repeat the procedure for the middle and tip of the eyelashes.

Brush your eyelashes with a clean spoolie brush.

Place a clean business card between your eyelashes and your eyelid. This will prevent mascara from getting on your eyelid and encourage you to apply mascara all the way through the eyelashes.

Apply mascara to your eyelashes while looking down at the mirror. Start at the base of the eyelashes, and brush all the way through to their tips. Don’t be afraid of getting mascara on your eyelid; that is the purpose of using the business card. Reaching the tips of your lashes with mascara helps to retain and enhance eyelash curl.

Brush your eyelashes with a clean spoolie brush, and remove mascara clumps and other excess mascara.

Warning

Avoid humidity, which loosens curls.
