When you admire a person, it's not long before you desire to become more like them. Remember that when you imitate a friend or acquaintance, it's best not to appear clingy or obsessed with them. Even if you admire a person you don't know personally, like a celebrity or political figure, you can still imitate them.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

    Imitate a Person You Know

  1. Step 1

Watch the person you admire and take note of how they dress, talk, walk, laugh and act. Pick out a couple of these personality traits you admire the most and imitate them. If you can't walk or laugh just like the other person without it looking awkward, try imitating something easier.

  2. Step 2

Dress like the other person does, pulling certain aspects of their style for your own personal use. Style your hair the same, wear similar outfits, carry the same purse or tote bag and buy some of the same accessories.

  3. Step 3

Hang out at the same places as the person you admire. If you're not friends with the person you admire, try talking to them while you're hanging out.

  4. Step 4

Talk like the person you admire. This means imitating common phrases the person says, along with facial expressions and hand gestures the person makes.

  5. Imitate a Person You Don't Know

  6. Step 1

Meet the person you admire, if possible. This gives you a better idea of their personality and style. Check out fan sites or personal websites to find out the person's schedule and personal appearances.

  7. Step 2

Read books written about, and by, the person you admire. Books give you an in-depth look at a person's background and future goals. This is the best way to find out about a celebrity or other public figure you admire.

  8. Step 3

Watch movies or television shows about the person. Candid interviews and documentaries help you learn what the person likes to eat, wear, read, listen to and watch on television. Then you can pick and choose some of the things you'd like to imitate.

  9. Step 4

Get involved with any organizations or volunteer work that the other person does. This helps you imitate them for their good deeds and not just superficial characteristics.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't try to turn yourself into the other person. Imitating a person means adopting some of their characteristic and style, but still remaining true to yourself.
