How to Make Irish Stew and Dumplings

- Water or meat stock
- Salt
- Freshly ground pepper
- Diced carrots
- Dicked, cooked lamb
- Sliced onions
- Diced turnip
- Diced celery
- Fresh parsley
- Potatoes, cubed
- All-purpose flour
- Flour
- Butter
- Milk
- Water

Place the meat in a large pot or dutch oven and pour enough meat stock or water to cover it. Season it with salt and freshly-ground pepper.

Stir in the carrots, onions, turnip, celery, potatoes and fresh parsley and cook the stew for 35 minutes.

Thicken the stew with flour if needed, and add the dumplings.

Cover the pot tightly and cook the Irish stew with dumplings cook for about 20 minutes.

Sift the flour and salt together in a large mixing bowl.

Cut in the butter with a fork or a pastry knife until it looks like large crumbs.

Add a bit of water if the mixture is too thick.

This recipe is awfully vague! How much of the veggies do you use? 1 cup? 2? Also, What part does the milk play in this? I see it in the 'Things you need' part, yet it is not mentioned anywhere in the preperation part! Hmmmmmmmmm. -

I love Irish Stew! My mom used to make the best dumplings! I can never get them right - so I just make the stew without them!
