Creating your own homemade birthday party invitations is a great way to add a personal touch to your celebration and get exactly the invitation you want. Depending on how many supplies you need, you can also save money by making your own invitations.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Paper
  • Graphics software
  • Cardstock
  • Scissors
  • Decorations and stickers
  • Rubber stamp and ink
  • Pens
  • Tea bags
  • Balloons

Step1
Use your computer to make invitations. Graphics software programs, like Greeting Card Designer and Greeting Card Creator, include card designs and clip art.
Step2
Make invitations that coordinate with your party theme. Cut pieces of cardstock into shapes, like airplanes, cards, paper dolls or whatever shape coordinates with your theme. Decorate the card and write the party information on it. Alternatively, stamp on the invitation fields with a rubber stamp, then fill it out.
Step3
Layer pieces of cardstock on blank cards. Glue into place with a glue stick. Add ribbons, flowers, photographs and scrapbook embellishments. Write the party information inside the card.
Step4
Include personal elements in your invitations. Use clip art or rubber stamps that relate to the party recipient's career or hobby. For seniors, include a childhood photo or graphics that relate to the year or era they were born. Invitations for baby or toddler birthdays can include photos that show how much the child has grown.
Step5
Let your child decorate a blank card with crayons and festive stickers. Write the party information inside.
Step6
Write or print the party information on a piece of paper. Steep a tea bag in warm water and squeeze it until it's damp. Dab the paper with the tea bag to give it an aged parchment effect. Lay the paper flat to dry. Flip it over and dab the other side with the tea bag.
Step7
Roll up the aged paper. Put it in a balloon and blow up the balloon. Hand deliver the balloon invitation.
