Instructions

    • 1

Consider a theme for the candy wrapper artwork. Choose wrappers by color or type: chewing gum, hard candies, chocolate, peanuts and peanut butter or a certain manufacturer. Think about a repeating pattern or an entire collage of one type of wrapper. Consider a collage of various sizes of the same candy wrapper.

    • 2

Put the word out to classmates, dormitory dwellers, friends, family and co-workers. Ask them to save candy wrappers as intact as possible.

    • 3

Pre-cut poster board or foam core board to size for framing. Check the depth of the frame beforse deciding between poster board or foam core, which is considerably thicker.

    • 4

Sort the candy wrappers and pick the best ones for the collage. Smooth out the wrappers and a get a good crease around all four edges. Press them flat in a heavy book to help flatten them.

    • 5

Start at the center of the poster board or foam core board and position the first candy wrapper. Work from the center out, positioning subsequent wrappers around the first one. Trim the wrappers that extend off the outer edges.

    • 6

Use double-sided tape to fix the candy wrappers to the backing. Overlap the wrappers slightly so that the poster board or foam core board doesn't show through.

    • 7

Frame the finished work. The glass or plexiglass helps keep the candy wrappers pressed flat.
