When packaging books for shipping, it’s very important that you protect the book from any possible chances of incurring damage in route. The most common place that books receive damage is on the corners. And of course, you want the recipient of the book to be satisfied with the condition of their book.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Plastic
  • Tape
  • Bubble wrap
  • Sheet of cardboard
  • Scissors
  • Cardboard box
  • Cushioning packing material
Step1
Protect the book from moisture. You never know when it might be dropped in a puddle or rained on. Wrap the book securely in a sheet of plastic or a plastic bag.
Step2
Wrap one complete layer of bubble wrap around the width of the book and tape it. It should cover the book from the top to the bottom. Next, wrap another complete layer of bubble wrap around the length of the book. It should cover the book from the spine to the other side.
Step3
Lay the wrapped book on a sheet of cardboard and draw an outline around it, about ¼-inch away from the edges. Cut two pieces of cardboard this size. Place the book between the two pieces of cardboard and put tape on all four edges.
Step4
Place the book in a box and completely surround it with additional cushioning packing material, such as bubble wrap or packing peanuts. Pack it tight enough so that the book doesn’t move if you shake the box.
Step5
Tape the box so that there isn’t any way it could accidentally come open during transit. The book should arrive safely, without any dents, bumps or water damage.
