Things You'll Need:
- Sharp knife
- 3-foot piece of rope
-
Step 1
Take the end of the rope and wrap it around the loop. This is a simple step, but it is the foundation of the trick. This part must be perfect.
-
Step 2
Tie it in a knot—you will create a single knot that slides up and down. This knot is similar to a slip knot—it is not a double knot or a square knot.
-
Step 3
Grip the end of the rope, wrap it around itself, and create another loop. It is easy to get confused here, so go slow and pay attention. You don't want to cut the rope in the wrong place.
-
Step 4
Find the part of the rope that is continuous. It is the longest part of the rope.
-
Step 5
Search for the section of the rope that is near the end and that makes the knot. At this point, you will have two slip knots.
-
Step 6
Cut the rope that is near the end—this will be the first slip knot. It is important to look carefully before you cut; don't cut the continuous piece of rope.
-
Step 7
Make two cuts in the rope—one to the rope that goes into the knot and second cut the knot that goes into the knot from the other way.
