If you have a favorite radio station, you may wish to request a song be played just for you. Many radio stations accept requests as a way to keep fans happy and encourage them to stay tuned in. You can use several different methods to request a song on the radio.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Find out the phone number of the radio station. When a DJ comes on the radio, he may let you know the number for the request line. If not, go to the station's website to retrieve it.
Step2
Give the radio personnel the title and artist of the song you want. If they are taking dedications, relay your message as well. After getting the info about the song, they'll likely disconnect immediately in order to take the next call.
Step3
Send an email request. Request lines may have a busy signal if many people are trying to call in at the same time. Get the email address of the request mailbox online at the station's website.
Step4
Wait to hear your song. You may have to wait some time until your request is heard. Keep the radio tuned to your station until it's played.

Tips & Warnings

  • Remember to request a song that fits to the station's format. For example, don't bother calling a rock station to request a country song.
  • Some large-market radio stations don't accept individual requests for songs. Stick to smaller stations for your song requests, like college radio.
