3. Buy a seat at a fundraising dinner. Although these events can be expensive to attend and you'll want to be sure that the specific politician will be there, attending a fundraising dinner can be a great way of meeting the individual.

4. Make connections with people who know the famous politician you want to meet. Other political figures, staff members and friends can introduce you to the person you want to meet.

5. Position yourself well at the events that you do attend. If you want a chance to meet the politician, you'll need to get up front, along exit routes and near places where the individual will be positioned. A good position can go a long way to getting you the introduction or handshake that you want.
