How to Replace a Zippo Wick
Zippo lighter's may be the world's best made lighters, lasting a lifetime when properly cared for. If you have gripped the wick of your lighter to get a bigger flame only to find that the short piece of wick came through the hole, it is time to replace the wick. A few tips can teach you how to replace the new wick in second flat.

Grip the chimney of your Zippo with one hand and the casing with the other, carefully removing the chamber, just as you would to add fuel to the lighter. Use a small flat screwdriver to loosen the flint spring found at the bottom of the chamber. Be careful when remove the screw, as it is spring loaded and the pieces can easily fall and get lost.

Tap the top of the lighter to remove the small piece of flint. Gently pull out the felt padding and then place the padding, screw, spring and flint into the Zippo casing for safe keeping. Use a pair of tweezer to reach inside the chamber, removing the cotton wading piece by piece. Set the aside in the same order as you removed them so that they are easier to replace later.

Insert your new Zippo wick through the top of the chimney and then pull it down into the chamber until the top is even with the top of the chimney. Replace the cotton wading in the same order as you removed them, winding the wick back and forth around the cotton pieces.

Replace the felt padding, the flint, the spring and the screw. Do not tighten the screw all of the way down or your lighter will not function properly. Refuel your lighter and you are ready to go.
