How to Read eBooks on an iPod

Reading eBooks on your iPod is as simple as converting a file and relocating it to the proper place on your iPod. With the help of iPod eBook Creator, the larger eBook file is split up into multiple smaller files so that the iPod can manage them. iPod then stores the files in the Notes folder.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • USB cable
  1. Step 1

    Choose the eBook that you want to read on your iPod. Ensure that the eBook is in a plain text (TXT) or rich text (RTF) file.

  2. Step 2

    Connect the iPod to the computer using a USB cable.

  3. Step 3

    Ensure “Enable Disk Use” is checked in the iTunes program. This will allow you to access the Notes folder.

  4. Step 4

    Convert the eBook using iPod eBook Creator so that Notes will support it. The converted files are saved in the ZIP file format.

  5. Step 5

    Unzip the file into the Notes folder on the iPod by browsing to the Notes directory in iTunes from your computer.

  6. Step 6

    Unplug the iPod from the computer and open the Extras folder on your iPod. From there, open the Notes folder.

  7. Step 7

    Locate the first file that iPod eBook Creator converted and click on it to begin reading the eBook.

Tips & Warnings
  • The iPod will not read files unless they are 4000 kilobytes or less, so it is necessary to use iPod eBook Creator to break the larger file down.
