How to Practice Roulette Strategy

Professional and amateur gamblers, engineers and computer scientists have been trying for decades to find a system that can "break" the house advantage at roulette. In truth, the best way to practice roulette strategy is to follow a careful prescription of betting and discipline that makes good on your wins.

1. Know your own gambling habits and betting pitfalls since this is by far the most important way to practice sound roulette strategy, or strategy for any gambling game that offers no leeway in beating the house advantage. You should make strict limits on losses (especially on losing days) and when to walk away with wins to execute the best strategy.

2. Find out the specific laws relevant to roulette (for example, California requires that cards determine some part of a gambling outcome) and the house rules at each table so you don't get caught in a loss that's caused by a misunderstanding.

3. Try out a number of the different betting systems such as the Martingale System, the Labouchere system and the dozen bet system. Each of these betting systems is difficult to implement so you must practice using the system on a roulette simulation before you set out to bet real money with a betting system strategy.

4. Start out low minimum tables so you can employ your strategy. As you start to get more comfortable with what you're doing, head over to the higher bet tables and watch experienced or higher stake players as they win or lose since observation is one of the best ways to practice gambling strategy.

5. Consider looking for mechanical bias on the roulette wheels in a casino since this is one of the few ways you can break the house advantage. Take your time as you do this since it requires training and a keen eye (and many casinos prevent mechanical bias in the first place) and make sure you're not breaking any house rules or laws.
