Hacky Sack is actually a brand name used to identify a specific style of foot bag. It's become synonymous with a game in which a player kicks a foot bag into the air performs some fancy footwork before passing the sack on to another person. Most games are not scored; the point of playing is to enjoy yourself.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Agree upon a scoring method before you start playing, if you choose to score at all. Scores can be based upon the number, difficulty and combination of hits.

  2. Step 2

Gather a group of players in a rough circle. Dirt or clay surfaces work better than grass. Cement or pavement are easy to play on but drastically reduce the life of the hacky sack.

  3. Step 3

Toss a courtesy bounce to another player, essentially serving him to begin the game. Formal players do not allow shoulder hits, while casual players perform this type of hit on a regular basis.

  4. Step 4

Perform as many kicks or tricks you like before passing the hacky sack to another player. It's considered "bogarting" when you keep the hacky sack too long, which is viewed as rude and grandstanding to other players.

  5. Step 5

Practice and enjoy your hacky sack games. Casual players are more interested in playing with others who love the game and improving their skills.

Tips & Warnings
  • Look for hacky sacks with a high number of panels. The higher the number of panels, the better the hacky sack will keep its shape, which makes it easier to play consistently.
