Instructions
  1. Step 1

Create your guest list. When inviting neighbors, it’s best not to exclude anyone, since you don’t know who may be good friends already and may find out about your party even if they are not invited. You don’t want to alienate neighbors you aren’t acquainted with by not inviting them.

  2. Step 2

Consider your neighbors' schedules when deciding on the time for your party. For example, if you know that the majority of your neighbors have young children, a daytime party may be more convenient for them to attend.

  3. Step 3

Distribute your invitations. This is best done in person when you know the neighbor you’ll be inviting. For those neighbors you are not yet familiar with, this is a great opportunity to introduce yourself. If your neighbors have a schedule that doesn’t allow an in-person visit, drop an invitation in their mailbox or front door.

  4. Step 4

Allow plenty of time for your neighbors to RSVP. 2 to 3 weeks should be a sufficient timeframe for your neighbors to decide whether or not they are available on the day of your party.

  5. Step 5

Tailor the activities at your party to your neighbors' interests. If you live on a street full of sports buffs, set up a volleyball net. If your neighbors are into wine, set up a wine tasting table. Your party is sure to be more successful when your neighbors enjoy themselves at your home.
