When your daughter and her friends are past the traditional “childish” party themes, create a slumber party that they’ll appreciate and enjoy. A spa evening lends itself to activities that will make guests feel relaxed, grown up and completely pampered.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Invitations
  • Room decorations
  • Vegetables and dip
  • Finger sandwiches
  • Ingredients for smoothies and desserts
  • Nail polish
  • Bowls and water for cuticle soaks
  • Exfoliating scrub
  • Back massagers
  • Treat bags
  1. Step 1

Send invitations to the spa party that include details like the arrival time, date and location. Also list items to bring such as pajamas, sleeping bags and pillows, toiletries and any spa-related items (like favorite colors of nail polish) that they’d care to share. Find cards that suit the slumber party’s theme. (See Resources)

  2. Step 2

Decorate the morning of the event. Try bright and pretty streamers, accents and banners that evoke a relaxing, rejuvenating day at the spa. (See Resources)

  3. Step 3

Make “sophisticated” snacks. Consider a vegetable tray with an assortment of dips, finger sandwiches like sliced cucumber and cheese or the traditional peanut butter and jelly. Let the girls create their own fruit smoothies and parfait desserts with tall glasses and layers of whipped cream, strawberries and crushed graham crackers.

  4. Step 4

Set up spa-like activities. Let the girls paint each other’s toenails, do cuticle soaks (in warm soapy water), facials (with a gentle exfoliating scrub) and rest with cucumber slices over their eyes. Help them create their own lip-gloss to take home. Have favorite compact discs or DVDs playing in the background. (See Resources)

  5. Step 5

Play games like “cotton ball on the spoon relay race” or “spin the nail polish bottle.” Have the girls sit in a circle with a bottle of nail polish between them. Spin the bottle—whoever the cap points to polishes one of her nails. Give a prize to the guest who paints all of her nails first.

  6. Step 6

Arrange the girls’ sleeping bags and pillows in a large room. Pass out mini-back massagers so they can give each other a relaxing back rub before they fall asleep. (See Resources)

  7. Step 7

Create loot bags filled with spa-related treats. Consider items like gift cards to a local smoothie shop, fingernail files printed with funky designs, nail polish, cotton balls and scented body lotion.
