Step1
Make your invitations. Remember, you are throwing an African themed party and want your guests to feel as if they have entered another country. Take color copies of the outside of your passport and write your party invitations inside like a visa. For example, country of destination should be an African country, entry location can be your address, make the date of entry the date of the party, the length of visa the duration of the party and special requirements can include things such as dress code, pot luck or other details.
Step2
Decorate with the colors of the African safari, hanging brown, tan, black and green balloons and streamers. Add to the safari look by using animal print table cloths, animal skin rugs and wall hangings, decorating with tiki torches and bamboo or even covering the walls with burlap and bringing in some large jungle-like plants.
Step3
Add everything African to your party atmosphere that you can think up. Borrow or place your bongo drums on display, bring out any African stuffed animals or even decorate with life-sized cardboards cut-outs of animals, available at your local party supply. Tribal masks can also be a great way to decorate for your party, and are fun and easy to make with papier-mache. Consider giving away your masks as party favors.
Step4
Set the atmosphere for your African party by playing African music in the background. African music is diverse but usually includes beautiful drumming and tribal chants. Music is an integral part of life in Africa, and will help to add the finishing touches to your party.
Step5
Cook up some delicious African cuisine for the final touch to your African party. African food is delicious, and can be used to make your drinks, appetizers, main courses and desserts.
