How to Deal With Annoying Siblings

If there were a manual on how to treat your sibling, there would be a very large section on what to do with an annoying sibling. Every brother or sister has to put up with that crazy sibling at some point in his or her life. Find some resourceful ways to deal with your annoying sibling, and he may just turn out to be a friend and not a pest.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Talk to your sibling. Tell him exavtly what is annoying you. Maybe he's completely on aware of his behavior. When he's aware, and only annoys you for the enjoyment, ignore it, he wants you to react. If he gets a reaction, it's guarenteed to continue.
Step2
Ask your parents to help you. If you want to get something changed, ask for help. Use a chart to share items fairly or distribute phone time if you share a phone with your annoying sibling. Keep your parents involved, and ask them to talk to your sibling.
Step3
Find a quiet place to get away from your sibling. An attic, basement or even a closet, keep the place secret. Go there to cool down when your annoying sibling has pushes too far. Stock your secret place with your favorite snacks and books so you'll have something to help you calm down.
Step4
Label your personal items if you share a room with a brother or sister. When your Ipod has your name stuck on the back, there won't be any questions about it belongs to in the house. If you want to borrow it to your sibling, by all means, go ahead.
Step5
Decorate a shared room in halves. If you share a room with your annoying sibling, make sure you can at least have your half of the room decorted how you want. It's best to split the room down the middle and stick to your side. This gives your annoying sibling the idea that he stays out of your side, and you stay off his side.
Step6
Try the loving approach. Shower your sibling with presents or little thoughtful gestures like doing his laundry, bringing him a soda or letting him borrow your favorite CD.

Tips & Warnings

  • You may disagree with your sibling, argue with her or give her the silent treatment; but in the end, remember she's your sibling and you may actually grow to love each other again some day.
