An iPod case provides protection from bumps and scratches and is available in a variety of designs. One of the most popular materials used to make an iPod case is duct tape. You can construct your own case out of duct tape, make a few extra for your friends, or start your own little duct tape iPod case business.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Template for iPod case
  • Duct tape
  • Craft knife
  • Scissors
  • Clear packing tape
  1. Step 1

Make your own pattern or download and print a full-sized template from the Internet.

  2. Step 2

Place duct tape on the back of the template before you cut it out. You'll eventually cover this with more tape, so you can use any color of duct tape you want. Cut the template out with scissors, following the instructions supplied with the template.

  3. Step 3

Score the fold lines on the template side with a craft knife to make folding easier. Don’t cut all the way through. Just barely run the knife over the fold lines so you can get a crisp, sharp fold. Fold the template along the designated fold lines.

  4. Step 4

Cut the holes out for the screen and click wheel of the iPod. Start by cutting a little slit with the craft knife and then use sharp scissors to finish cutting the hole out. Cut a hole for the headphone jack and the USB port with the craft knife.

  5. Step 5

Wrap the template around the iPod to determine where to cut the hole for the “Hold” button.

  6. Step 6

Position clear packing tape on both sides of the area that you cut out for the screen on your duct tape iPod case.

  7. Step 7

Duct tape the case around the iPod. Be careful that you only duct tape the template and not the iPod.

Tips & Warnings
  • Place the template around your iPod to make sure the holes will be in the right place and make adjustments, if necessary.
  • Be careful when working with a craft knife. The blade is extremely sharp.
