Step 1
Take your Dad to a local airsoft game. Allow him to see the game in action and how the players use the guns. He may become interested in the game and interested in you succeeding in airsoft as well.
-
Step 2
Set up a time with an instructor for some one-on-one airsoft instruction for you and your Dad. Rent airsoft guns for a day and learn as much as you can about them. Having a professional airsoft player speak with your Dad may validate your interest in the game to him and reassure any fears he has about your safety.
-
Step 3
Visit a local store that sells airsoft supplies. Look at airsoft guns for sale and be sure to check out the used guns. If your Dad's main objection to an airsoft gun and all the accessories that come with it is price, agree to purchase a used gun or make your Dad a deal that you can work off the money he spends by doing chores around the house.
-
Step 4
Remain mature about the situation. Whining or shouting demonstrates to your Dad that you're immature and possibly not ready for an airsoft gun. If you're truly ready for an airsoft gun, then take a rational approach. Show your Dad you understand airsoft guns are not toys and that you would enjoy playing airsoft as a hobby.
-
Step 5
Check out your local area to see if there are any father and son teams you can join if your Dad really enjoys playing with you. If you can get your Dad to like playing airsoft, you may not have to spend too much time persuading him.
