Store bought beauty products are expensive and often made with chemicals. Consider making your own skin care products. With simple steps and a few ingredients, you can make this all-natural oatmeal face milk that soothes dry or irritated skin and gives you a deep cleaning.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Old-fashioned oatmeal
  • Dried lavender
  • Small bowl
  • Cheesecloth or muslin
  • String or rubber band
  • Towel

Step1
Add 1 cup of the oatmeal and 1 tbsp. of lavender to a mixing bowl. Mix them together.
Step2
Spread out the cheesecloth or muslin, and drop the mixture into the middle of it. Gather the extra fabric and secure it closed with a piece of the string or with the rubber band. This makes your oatmeal bag.
Step3
Fill the small bowl up with warm water, and place the oatmeal bag in it for 5 minutes, or until the oats feel soft. Once the water has cooled down, wring the bag over the bowl to remove the oatmeal milk.
Step4
Take the oatmeal bag and gently wipe around your face. For any blemishes or insect bites, leave the bag on the mark for a minute before continuing.
Step5
Wash your face with the remaining oatmeal milk that is in the bowl. Pat dry with a towel.
Step6
Open the bag and discard the oatmeal. Wash your cheesecloth or muslin well before next use. Enjoy your soft, clean skin.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can use dried rose petals in place of the lavender.
  • Make extra of these to give as a nice homemade gift. Combine a couple oatmeal bags with written instruction, and place in a gift box.
