Children and teenagers are often presented with a challenge when they want to do something that may be risky or unsafe according to their parents. When you are presented with the opportunity to experience something new and you are afraid that your parents will be skeptical, talk your parents into letting you do it. Follow these simple steps and you will be on your way to fun.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Sit down with your parents and explain to them what you would like to do. Whether you want to go on a date with your high school boyfriend or want to get a tattoo, it is important that you are up front and explain everything that you want to do and why.

  2. Step 2

Research with your parents the topic that you want to explore or be part of. If your parents see that you are interested in learning the pros and cons of the idea, they will stay open minded and will see that you want to be fully educated.

  3. Step 3

Remind your parents that you are responsible and make wise decisions. Present them with true examples of when you made wise decisions.

  4. Step 4

Ask your parents if you can do anything to help them over the next few weeks if they will allow you to do what you want.

  5. Step 5

Remain calm while you are waiting for your parents to respond to your question. Avoid begging, crying, and throwing temper tantrums to get what you want. By showing them that you can act in a mature fashion, they will be more likely to allow you to do anything that you want.
