Recruiting and hiring foreign nurses is the way many medical facilities deal with staffing problems and language barriers. Foreign nurses provide American medical facilities with innovative medical information and techniques from other countries as well as additional manpower.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy
Step1
Understand the H-1B Visa which was created for employees who come to the United States to work for an American employer. To get an H-1B Visa for a foreign nurse you must first offer the nurse a position, file a Labor Condition Attestation with the U.S. Department of Labor, have a wage survey conducted by a state employment agency and file a I-129H petition with the Immigration and Naturalization Service.
Step2
File an EB-3 if the nurse is from Canada or Mexico and wants to live in the United States permanently. The EB-3 is designed for medical professionals and may take 8 to 12 months to process. The restrictions for the EB-3 include: the nurse must have residency in Canada or Mexico, be licensed to work in the U.S., and must pass a test given by the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools.
Step3
Post the positions available online at multiple job search sites. Monster.com has a number of job positions and resumes for foreign nurses. Aldatech is a Canadian company that connects employers and foreign nurses. D. B. Health care is a large database of job postings and job seekers.
Step4
Interview potential employees on the phone. Discus visas and salary. Ask the employee the length of time she wants to stay in the U.S. Review all medical training and experience with the employee.
Step5
Set up temporary housing. This varies from place to place. Some facilities give the employee housing for one month to give time to find sufficient housing. Other facilities offer the nurses a longer grace period. The amount of time you allow the nurse to stay in the housing and the cost of the housing is up to you.
