Dance to Rock Music

If you've ever been the guy at the venue swaying awkwardly to the music, it might be time to figure out how to dance to rock music before your next concert. If you are particularly rhythmically challenged, even the rock concert shuffle can elude you. Don't fret, though, because of all dances, the rock music shuffle requires the least amount of practice or skill to master.

Instructions

    • 1

Watch other people dance. To avoid creeping people out, use the TV to do this. Watch some music television and pay close attention to how everybody moves. When you're ready, try it out in your own home.

    • 2

Move the furniture if you're accident prone, and if you have a large mirror on hand, put it at a safe distance so that you can see if you're getting the hang of it. Just because you aren't a rock music dance master doesn't mean you can't recognize when somebody else is dancing really well. If can visually see yourself dancing, you'll be better able to gauge when you get it right.

Practice makes perfect. Once you've picked up a few moves, practice in front of the mirror. Try to do it with your eyes closed so that you know how it feels when you move your body so that you can do the same thing on the dance floor. All you need is the basic sort of shuffle and head bob with a few thrashes and arm movements to make it look like you know your stuff.

    • 4

Learn how to do other dances. Sometimes, taking dance classes or watching and practicing with videos in other dance forms will make you a better dancer overall. Learning ballroom dancing, hip hop dance moves, or Latin dances can help you to get a better handle on the fundamentals of moving to music.

Infuse what you've learned the next time you're at a show or a concert and just go with it. It doesn't really matter what anybody thinks of your dancing, and most people really aren't going to notice your dancing skills or lack thereof on a dark, crowded floor, so just loosen up and do your thing.
