Personal slideshows make great tools for keeping your friends up to date or impressing potential employers with a multimedia portfolio. You could distribute them on DVD, but a better solution is to send them as iPod videos so people can watch them at their desks on on the go. You can easily create iPod slideshows with Wondershare.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Digital images and or video
  • Digital music files in .mp3, .wav or .wma formats
  1. Step 1

Start with the "Slideshow" tab (the program should open to this window). Click on the "New" button to create a slideshow. You can create a single slideshow, or multiple slideshows that can be accessed from the DVD menu.

  2. Step 2

Add images or video. You will be prompted to add them as soon as you create a new slideshow. Locate the folder with your images and click open. You can add additional media by clicking on empty slides.

  3. Step 3

Add effects, music and voiceovers. The "Slideshow" window has buttons to add digital sound files, text, and even to record new audio. You can also edit the slide duration and transition effects.

  4. Step 4

Build your DVD menu in the "Menu" tab. Choose a menu theme from one of the preset templates, download additional templates from the web, or click on the "Custom…" button to create your own menu settings.

  5. Step 5

Preview your DVD in "Preview" tab. Make sure the sound files play back and the navigation links work correctly.

  6. Step 6

Burn your iPod movie in the "Create" tab. Select "Mp4 Movie (iPod)" as your output format. The default output settings should be sufficient. However, you can use the "Options" button to lower the file size with the quality and frame rate settings.

  7. Step 7

Share your movie with your friends. They can download it to their iPods or watch on their computers with any program that plays Mp4 movies.

Tips & Warnings
  • Wondershare lets you edit your slideshow using a storyboard or timeline mode. Most users will prefer the storyboard format, but the Timeline mode will be familiar to anyone using Adobe Premiere.
  • You can apply the same transition to all slides. Click on any transition icon to open the transition editor. Then choose "Apply The Selected Transition To All Clips" from the "Apply All" pulldown menu.
  • You can email large iPod movies to your friends for free by creating an account at YouSendIt. Their free accounts allow you to send files up to 100 mb.
