There is nothing more inviting than a clean and odor free house. This is probably what you first notice when you enter someone’s home. The vacuum cleaner can be your best ally in cleaning your house and in getting it to smell fresh.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Vacuum cleaner
  • Vacuum cleaner bags
  • Essential oils
  • Cotton balls
  • Tissues
  • Baking soda
  • Fabric refresher
  1. Step 1

Replace the vacuum cleaner bag with a new one. This ensures that there is no dirt or debris in the vacuum cleaner so it can clean to its full potential.

  2. Step 2

Put some drops of essential oil (of your choice) on a tissue or cotton ball and place it inside the vacuum bag before you start to vacuum. This gives a nice scent to the home.

  3. Step 3

Add some drops of essential oils to the water reservoir of the vacuum cleaner if your vacuum cleaner comes with one.

  4. Step 4

Use baking soda to remove musty odors from the carpets or rugs. Sprinkle some baking soda (quantity depends on size of rug or carpet), let it sit for 20 minutes and then vacuum.

  5. Step 5

Clean your draperies by using the attachments that come with the vacuum. This removes dust and dirt from them, and then you can spray with fabric refresher.

  6. Step 6

Get rid of stale odors in draperies by first removing them from the rod. Sprinkle some baking soda on them, wait 20 minutes and then vacuum. Be sure to test a small section of the fabric to see any affects from the baking soda.

  7. Step 7

Remember to vacuum on a regular basis in the manner outlined in the Steps above to keep the home fresh and clean.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can also mix baking soda with drops of essential oil and sprinkle it on the carpets. Be sure to mix this mixture well to remove clumps.
