Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Pruning scissors
- Fertilizer tablets
- Hose
Step1
Prune dead—or—dying leaves from your plants by removing the plant containers from the water.
Step2
Fertilize your water plants by placing fertilizer tablets into their containers following the directions from the manufacturer for your type of plant. Plant fertilizer tablets are available at fish and aquarium stores, outdoor pool and pond supply stores or online at websites such as Water Garden. (See Resources for link.)
Step3
Clean the bottom of the pool area frequently and remove any dead leaves, twigs or other material that has fallen to the bottom.
Step4
Spray your water garden plants gently with a hose to remove any aphids. The aphids will fall into the water and are tasty treats for any fish in your water garden.
Step5
Keep the filter clean by following the cleaning guidelines and instructions from the manufacturer of the filter.
Step6
Maintain the proper water level in your water garden, adding water as needed.
