1
Start Adobe Fireworks CS3, and open an existing Fireworks document that contains an object or piece of text to which you would like to apply a glow effect.
-
2
Select the Pointer tool from the toolbox, and click on the object that you want to glow. The object will be surrounded by a blue outline when it is selected. You can see the properties for the object displayed on the "Properties" pane at the bottom of the screen.

3
Click on the "+" button that is beside the word "Filters" on the right side of the "Properties" pane. Choose "Shadow and Glow" from the pop-up menu, and click on either "Glow" or "Inner Glow." Choosing the "Glow" effect will add a glow radiating out from your object while the "Inner Glow" effect will radiate that glow inward into the object.
-
4
Double-click on the glow effect you have added to the object from the list that now appears under the word "Filters" in the "Properties" pane. A small window will appear that will allow you to customize the glow effect you have just added.
-
5
Change the number in the "Width" text box on the left side of the small window to control the width of the glow. You can also change the color of the glow by clicking on the color well.
-
6
Modify the settings on the right side of the small window to change the opacity, softness and halo offset.
