Soccer is one of the most demanding sports popular in the country. Because of its demands on stamina and agility, soccer requires someone to train to a point of high athleticism. During the off season, there are a few things you must do to make sure your soccer leg is ready when the first game rolls around.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Hit up the gym. Top soccer players have a leg capable of kicking the ball with amazing speed; the advantage of having a muscular leg is easy to imagine.

  2. Step 2

Put in your time on the treadmill. There is no substitute for cardiovascular endurance than what can be gained through running long distances.

  3. Step 3

Drill yourself on dribbling and kicking at least three times a week. During the off season it's very easy to pick up some clumsy habits that will ruin your performance if your don't take the proper measures.

  4. Step 4

Practice your shots on goal against an experienced goalie. Playing alone on the field will help keep your physical conditioning, but there's no substitute for matching up against a thinking goalie.

  5. Step 5

Keep a healthy diet. Drinking too much beer or eating too many fatting foods adds weight in the off season; if you want to win games you must be trim and in shape.

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember to give yourself adequate time to warm up if it has been a while since you have taken the time to train seriously. Getting injured because you didn't take adequate precautions is not worth missing the soccer season.
