I have two cats that both need medicine twice daily. One has an overactive thyroid and the other has diabetes. I have learned how to EASILY give my cat a pill. Here's how you can do this too.
If the pill is whole and you can break it in half, do that first. Smaller pills are easier to hide inside cat treats.
Step2
The most effective kind of moist cat treat to hide a pill in is Purina's Whisker Lickin's Tender Moments Soft & Delicious. It is in a purple container and it comes in several flavors. Many other kinds of cat treats just crumble apart and are much harder to stick together. Whisker Lickin's brand of cat treats is easily shape-able to squish the pill inside while keeping the treat in one piece.
Step3
Then place the treat with the enclosed pill on a plate. You can also provide a couple of decoy treats that don't have the pill inside if you think your cat will likely eat a few treats.
Step4
Place the treat plate next to your cat. Watch and wait for your cat to finish eating the treats. Make sure the pill was eaten. If not, squish it in another treat and give it again.
Tips & Warnings
Try this with your cat! You'll be happier and your cat will be asking for his medicine.
