Experiment with different styles of cars. Gordon has raced quarter midget cars, sprint cars and stock cars. Each type of car has a different engine which enriched Gordon's driving experience.

Familiarize yourself with the type of car you are driving. The greater knowledge of how your car works gives you more control on the track and allows you to utilize the maximum engine power.

Study the track you are racing on, and learn the grooves and temperature tendencies. Different surfaces give better traction than others. Gordon continues to learn about the tracks that have eluded him a win.

Ignore negative comments. Many fans and commentators who are annoyed with Gordon's success often criticize his driving style even thought it has proven successful.

Push yourself to the limit. Gordon doesn't hesitate to bump draft to gain positions, even if other drivers don't participate. He constantly looks for openings and takes every opportunity to drive hard and advance in the field.
