Many of our kitchen appliances, including a refrigerator, stove or dishwasher, are white in color. Over time, however, the color can appear less white and more yellow or dingy. Many of us do not think of cleaning the outside of our appliances, but if you want them to appear newer and clean, you can make your white appliances whiter.

From Quick Guide: Cleaning Appliances
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1/2 cup bleach
  • 8 cups warm water
  • Sponge
  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • Extra water
  • 1 cup vinegar
  • 1 tsp. lemon juice
  • Rubber gloves
  1. Step 1

Make a mixture of 1/2 cup bleach, 8 cups of warm water and 1/2 cup baking soda.

  2. Step 2

Take the mixture and a sponge and use both to clean the outer surfaces of your appliance.

  3. Step 3

Use fresh water and a sponge to go over the same surfaces to remove any residue that the mixture may have left behind.

  4. Step 4

    Let dry completely.

  5. Step 5

Make another mixture, but combine 1 tsp. of lemon juice and 1 cup of vinegar.

  6. Step 6

Use this second mixture and the sponge to, again, go over the same areas you had cleaned before. Leave it on.

Tips & Warnings
  • Never mix bleach and vinegar together.
  • Use gloves while you clean.
  • Only try this on white appliance. Never use on anything that is made of stainless steel.
