Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Baby shampoo or other gentle, mild shampoo
- Lukewarm water
- Basin
- Fork or whisk
Step1
Fill a basin with lukewarm water.
Step2
Add a few drops of a baby shampoo, or even a gentle, mild shampoo for adults. Check the ingredients list so there are no dyes or harsh chemicals.
Step3
Agitate the water a little to form some suds, using your fingers or even a fork or whisk.
Step4
Place the silk item (scarf, skirt, shirt or dress) into the basin.
Step5
Gently move the silk item around in the water with your hands.
Step6
After taking the item out of the water, carefully squeeze the excess liquid out. Squeeze gently so you do not damage the fabric.

on 6/4/2008 I'm new to the ownership of silk. The scarf that I now am responsible for clearly states "dry clean only" on the label. The first time I had it dry cleaned, the fee for the service was half the price of the scarf! This is a colorful silk scarf, which now has a lipstick smudge! Have you any experience with such a dilemma?
