Cleaning the house doesn't have to be boring. Find innovative ways to make cleaning more enjoyable. Try these simple suggestions.

From Quick Guide: Let's Get House Cleaning
Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Talk while you sweep. Don't just kick up your feet and sit when you talk on the phone, grab a broom and start sweeping. Before you know it, your floors will be free of dirt and dust. You can talk on the phone while you do any quiet job. Try dusting or changing the sheets while you gab.

  2. Step 2

Watch your favorite show or movie while you fold clothes and iron. Laundry becomes less of a chore if you are absorbed in your favorite show.

  3. Step 3

Dance while you clean. Rocking out to a lively beat will keep your mind occupied and will speed you along as you clean.

  4. Step 4

Clean bathrooms while the kids soak in the bathtub. If you have to be in the bathroom anyway, use your time to the best advantage. Once the kids are finished bathing, it will take only a moment to finish cleaning the tub. Use a bathroom cleaner with a light scent so you can all breathe while you scrub.

  5. Step 5

Make cleaning the kitchen a family task. Scrubbing pots and discussing the day with your spouse or kids makes the job less of a chore.

  6. Step 6

Spread the chores out over the week. Spending hours cleaning makes the task seem endless. Do one major cleaning job each night and before you know it the whole house is clean.

Tips & Warnings
  • Keep all of your cleaning supplies in a bucket or handled tray. It is easier to clean when all of your supplies are in one place.
  • Keep glass cleaner and paper towels in each bathroom. It takes only a moment to spray and wipe when you notice it needs it.
  • Keep a washcloth on the counter in each bathroom to wipe up spills when they occur.
