How to Custom Fragrance Your Laundry Detergent

Sometimes store bought laundry detergents can be overly fragrant. Also, many people have allergic reactions or rashes in response to these overpowering scents. You can custom fragrance your detergent right out of your own home. Just a few simple steps and your laundry will come out smelling exactly as you want it.

Things You'll Need:

• Unscented liquid laundry detergent
• Essential oil of your choice

1. Purchase unscented, liquid laundry detergent. Many mainstream brands make unscented versions, but the all natural brands tend to work best.

2. Purchase an essential oil of your choice. Essential oils are found in almost all health food stores and come in tiny, brown, glass bottles. Suggested fragrances include grapefruit, lavender, rosemary, orange, lemongrass or rose.

3. Place eight to 10 (maximum) drops of oil into your detergent. Close cap tightly and shake well.

4. Your laundry will come out beautifully smelling to your liking. Get creative and mix a few scents. Or buy a few essential oils and add one drop of oil to your cup of detergent each time you do laundry. You may find that you actually start to like doing laundry.
