How to use your Chamber of Commerce

One of the best ways to 'get known' in business is to join your local Chamber of Commerce. This is where you'll find local talent, just like yourself, who are there to enjoy the company of fellow business owners. New services and technologies, as well as information and a lot of entertainment abound in a 'Greeters' meeting at any given location.

Things You’ll Need:

• Register with the chamber
• Bring your speaking voice and elevator speech
• Bring your business cards
• A promotional gift from your business if you have one
• Bring your energy

1. Happy Chamber Staff (Prez. Frank on right) Call your local Chamber of Commerce: They will be happy to sign you up. Go to the Chamber office and meet the staff. They will be glad to help you invest in your future.
2. Make the investment: Chambers annual fee is well worth the money. This is a business asset allocation. The money you put into the Chamber will reap dividends in all manner of opportunity.
3. VIP's Rolan on left Be willing to participate: In 'The Little Red Book of Sales', the author says, " Be a chairman for a Chamber function". This is so true, as I have personally Chaired many events with outrageous success. Donate your time to the Chamber. You'll be glad you did. 4. Announcements and introductions Be ready to meet everybody: You never know who you will meet. Say to every one "Hi, I'm_________." And it will surprise you as to how you could be connected. The meeting introduces people and the hosts make announcements that are crucial to local business. And then they do the prize giveaways. Be courteous and call the business who donated your gift and give them a call.
5. Crown Motors Mixer After Hours Go to the Chamber Functions: Take advantage of the Chamber Business Mixers and other events put throughout the year. Take new people and get them involved. This is the fun part of joining. I don't know whether I have more fun Chairing an Event or simply attending one. The picture shows my hot rod at a Greater Redding Chamber of Commerce Business Mixer. I Chaired the event, and brought in all the 'cherry' rides.
6. Acknolegements Be recognized as a community leader: As your business grows, you are bound to make achievements. And it's always nice to be recognized for the met or surpassed goals. Be encouraged, and come and join us. You are welcome.
