How to Broil Salmon
It's easy to ruin a good piece of salmon either by making it soggy or over cooking it, which leaves it dry and flavorless. Here is a simple method to make sure your salmon come out right every time. Does this Spark an idea?

Melt the butter in the microwave in a bowl. Add the garlic and herbs and a little salt to the butter (to taste). You can use any herbs you want. Dill and Thyme are both good options. Use fresh herbs if possible. Let the herbs marinate in the butter while you do the other steps.

Place the salmon skin side down on the cedar plank. Always use fresh salmon not frozen. Brush the top and sides of the fish liberally with the garlic-herb-butter.

Adjust broiler racks so that the fish will be 4 inches from the heat source. Preheat the oven or broiler to the highest heat setting. Most ranges have a broil setting. Broil the salmon steaks for 10 minutes per inch of thickness, or less if you like your salmon more rare.

Remove plank from broiler. Squeeze fresh lemon on the Salmon.

Let rest 2-5 minutes before serving. If you have a nice cedar plank, you can use it as a serving dish.
